Antique French Napoleonic Ebonised & Gilt Wall Mirror with Original Foxed Glass

A gloriously timeworn antique French Napoleonic wall mirror circa 1850, with all the faded grandeur, foxing and decorative drama you could hope for. The combination of the black ebonised frame, worn gilt detailing and beautifully aged original mirror plate gives it that effortlessly elegant look that modern reproductions spend years trying (and failing) to imitate.   The foxing across the original glass is absolutely lovely, enough to give that soft smoky reflection decorators love without losing practicality. The ornate pierced crest and deeply worked gilt decoration make it feel wonderfully grand, while the darker ebonised detailing keeps it moody and sophisticated rather than overly flashy.   At 106cm tall it has real presence without becoming difficult to place, and would look fantastic above a fireplace, in a hallway, layered into a darker interior scheme or simply leaned casually against a wall for that relaxed French decorative look.   Naturally it shows signs of age, wear and losses exactly as you would want from a genuine antique mirror of this period.
